ELAINA MCBRIDE PIANO

WHO AM I?
When I first began taking lessons, I did not think that I would one day be teaching them. I was born and raised in the South, but grew up in a multicultural family. My mom is from Russia, and a huge part of Russian culture, I feel, is a commitment to the arts. My mom was determined to get me involved in something to do within the arts community from a young age. Ballet and gymnastics didn't quite stick, but somehow, piano did.

Years later, I was accepted into a music program at the University of Montevallo, where I had the opportunity to study with Dr. Eun Hee Park for piano. In my junior year, I realized that I wanted to pursue further studies in music through a graduate degree program. It wasn't until two years after that moment when I decided to pursue piano pedagogy as a major.

I love teaching, and LSU provided me with so many mentors who taught me how to become a better educator. Under the mentorship of Dr. Rebecca Bellelo, Dr. Pamela Pike, Dr. Ana Maria Otamendi, and Dr. Willis Delony, I was able to learn how to teach and learn music in a totally new way. I will be forever thankful for everyone who was a part of my path and for everyone who guided me and challenged me to become a better musician.

My hope is that my love for music and piano shines through my teaching and inspires my students to continue learning, performing, and sharing musical experiences with others.
